Today was such a beautiful day. I could barely stay focused on my tasks in the store, so I finally decided to take a quick walk around the corner to Fishtown. It's amazing how walking just a block away from Main Street can seem like you have walked into a different world. The breakwall in the Leland Harbor looks as though it is just a snow covered mound. Water is flowing heavily out of the dam and there is still some snow on the beach. It looks like tomorrow will be warmer - it was still pretty chilly, despite the wonderful sunshine. It won't be too long till we see Dave back the the Village Cheese Shanty making his famous pretzel bread sandwiches!
Spring coming to Fishtown
St. Paddy's Day with Beoga
Just got back from an Early Show at Union Street Station in Traverse City. Today's concert was an Irish group named Beoga. They were really fun. A funky, jazzy mix of Irish music. We have heard lots of Celtic music and love it. Tonight was a bit different with the addition of the keyboards, for a sound we haven't heard before. This was a group of talented, energetic, young musicians with a very fun stage presence. Good humor is always a good addition to good music and there was lots of that. This is a photo from their website.
Sugarloaf - Lift 3
My son hiked up Sugarloaf Mountain the other day and took this photo at the top. I guess, of all winters since it has closed , it is sad that Sugarloaf Resort isn't open for skiing this year. The snow has been incredible and it has been a long winter season.
Sunrise on Pyramid Point
After more than three months of cold and snow, the folks in northern Michigan are getting a bit tired of winter. I do have to say, though, that it has been beautiful. The view of Pyramid Point and Good Harbor Bay changes daily and is always breathtaking. We are so lucky to have the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in our backyard!
