Over the years, I have had lots of folks asking what it was like to do the buying for the store. I just got back from some tradeshows in NY. I found a spot to snap a photo so you can see just a portion of one of the shows that I attended. It can be overwhelming but is lots of fun, too.
We were lucky to get some exclusive pins and pillows from recycled, felted sweaters. They are really cute, affordably priced, and will make great gifts! New items will be added as we get them… We also have some recycled wool mittens from Peapack Mitten Co., the Brighton Peace Belt, handwoven belts from South America, a great selection of scarves, and always our BKG sweaters in great colors and styles.
This year, the fireworks in Leland will be on Friday, July 3, at Van’s Beach in Leland. It doesn’t get any better than sitting on the shore of Lake Michigan with family and friends to enjoy a small town fireworks display over our great Lake Michigan. So for those of you who won’t be able to be here in person, I found this video online showing the 2008 fireworks on youtube. These are by Ken Scott Photography
As I watch the news everyday and am overwhelmed with all of the gloom and doom that is presented to viewers on a daily basis, I started to think about things that I have in the store that have an excellent value. One of the best is this sweater from BKG & Co. At $59.50, the price is very reasonable, the selection of colors is amazing, and it is a great quality sweater. It is 100% cotton and truly easy care – machine wash and tumble dry. While it is an easy, boxy, one size fits all, it is available in three fits…a mini-fit, which is cropped to the waist and smaller in the body than the others, a BKG-fit, which is longer (to the top of the leg) with a relaxed, dropped shoulder, and the BKG trim-fit, which is the longer length with a set in sleeve. So, then, when all of the color choices are added into the mix, you can see that this sweater is perfect for a winter pick-me-up. You can view these, and other BKG & Co on our site
My goal is to get alot of great clothing from Habitat onto the website as they start to come in. They make “clothing you can live in”. Most items I have a hard time keeping in stock, so I haven’t added them too often as I don’t want the online customers to be disappointed. This is a sweatshirt that I have just added…it can be found on the sportswear page .
We have just put out some new jewelry by Alexis Drake. It should be added onto the website before too long. These are some of the pieces that I am partial to. I love the silver teardrops and the cross on the leather cords. Those are just classic wear everywhere pieces. Her signature bracelet is outstanding!
Another line I saw at the show in NY was Cut Loose. It is always one of my favorite lines. Really comfy clothing. This is an outfit I have on order for delivery in April. Also have crop pants coming in the same print…as we are getting more snow tonight – another 1-3″ the thoughts of spring are getting better all the time.
I just returned from a 5 day trip to New York. It was my first big buying trip for the year and I saw lots of cool stuff. It can be very overwhelming and not to mention exhausting, attending 6 shows for clothing and accessories, as there is LOTS of stuff to choose from. Some of the hightlights were Brighton jewelry.
