These colorful beaded bracelets with vintage buttons are handmade and fairly traded from Guatemala.  The design is by Nancy Dunitz.  Just one style from many in her collection that we carry in the store.

This is very colorful, fair-trade, handmade jewelry from Nairobi, Kenya.  Beads are made from recycled, rolled strips of paper and then used in bracelets, necklaces and earrings.  The fun, lightweight pieces are very affordably priced, while the artists making this jewelry are making 5x the national average wage in Kenya!

Over the years, I have had lots of folks asking what it was like to do the buying for the store.  I just got back from some tradeshows in NY.  I found a spot to snap a photo so you can see just a portion of one of the shows that I attended.  It can be overwhelming but is lots of fun, too.

The town is decorated for the holidays.  It’s beautiful and you should check it out!  Girl’s night is coming up next Thursday, Dec 10 from 5-8pm.

We were lucky to get some exclusive pins and pillows from recycled, felted sweaters.  They are really cute, affordably priced, and will make great gifts!  New items will be added as we get them… We also have some recycled wool mittens from Peapack Mitten Co., the Brighton Peace Belt, handwoven belts from South America, a great selection of scarves, and always our BKG sweaters in great colors and styles.

This year, the fireworks in Leland will be on Friday, July 3, at Van’s Beach in Leland. It doesn’t get any better than sitting on the shore of Lake Michigan with family and friends to enjoy a small town fireworks display over our great Lake Michigan.  So for those of you who won’t be able to be here in person, I found this video online showing the 2008 fireworks on youtube. As I watch the news everyday and am overwhelmed with all of the gloom and doom that is presented to viewers on a daily basis, I started to think about things that I have in the store that have an excellent value.
